Regular Maintenance – Sheepskin harness pads must be allowed to dry between drives to maintain the shape and integrity of the leather. Prolonged use of a pad without proper drying may cause the pad to become stretched or misshapen, resulting in damage to your pad. Once the pad is dry, a light brushing of the sheepskin with a pet brush will separate the wool fibers and help keep the wool fluffy and resilient.
Washing – Sheepskin saddle pads should be hand washed in cold water using a mild soap designed for sheepskin. We offer one of the best sheepskin detergents by Eucalan. It is not recommended to wash pads in a washing machine because the agitator can be rough on the sheepskin and the finely stitched quilt. Remove excess water in the pad by carefully squeezing the water out. Do not wring the pad as it may damage it.
Drying – Sheepskin harness pads should be line dried out of the sun. Lightly stretch the pad during the drying process to avoid shrinkage. Do not put pads in a dryer or on a heating device. Once dry, lightly brush the sheepskin with a pet brush to separate the wool fibers.
Following these instructions can ensure maximum longevity of your IVC sheepskin harness pads.
